This weekend was the highly anticipated Caribana festival in Toronto. This city prides itself on housing a plethora of different cultures, one of the strongest being the Caribbean population. According to the Canadian Census of 2001 over 6% of the population in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) were of Caribbean origin, that adds up to be 280, 000 people! At the parade on Saturday it looked like everyone and their dog were out ready to represent the islands, and were all ready to party!
|There is a woman in there somewhere pulling that costume along, now that’s a workout!|
|One of the highlights of my day was getting to drink fresh coconut water straight from the source! Don’t know who the guy in the background is, but it looks like he wants my coconut!|
