This weekend I was lucky enough to travel out to the west coast of Canada, and attend a good friend’s wedding celebration. I love going to the west coast, the scenery is absolutely stunning, the air is fresh, and I’m always inspired by how so many people live such clean, health conscious lives. The wedding celebration was held at the couples home in Saskatoon, where all of these lovely healthy people gathered. The catering was done by a local woman who made everything from scratch, most of which was vegan, and some even gluten free! I was so happy that I could actually eat! My favorite thing were the vegan carrot cupcakes topped with shredded coconut and “cream cheese” frosting, they were to die for!

The bride, and my dear friend is a clean eats guru, and yoga teacher, so one of her wedding gifts happened to be this quirky vegan cookbook called the Sexy Vegan Cookbook.
Brian L. Patton obviously has a great sense of humor about food, and devised creative recipes to make vegan cooking fun. There are some great tips for cooking with some of the more foreign ingredients like nutritional yeast, and tempeh, which are always helpful especially if you’re new to vegan cooking. This cookbook is definitely a staple if you are a vegan, and even if you’re not it’s pretty interesting to hear how he came up with some of the recipes. The author’s love for cooking and living healthy, and clean shines through in his writing, and needless to say I had lots of fun reading it.
