This week I’m so excited to share one of my fellow Canadian healthy bloggers, Joyous Health! On top of being a fabulous food blogger with recipes galore, Joy is the Holistic Nutrition and Health Expert to Global TV’s The Morning Show, and a Certified and Registered Nutritionist (CNP, RNCP) from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. Joy is also the co-creator of Toronto’s first integrated nutrition and yoga program, Eat Well Feel Well. Let’s just say, she knows her stuff! Joy was kind enough to share some of her knowledge and answer a few questions for me:
FTPilates: What’s your favorite healthy snack on the go?
JH: 2 soft medjol dates stuffed with a walnut or brown rice crackers with almond butter & raw honey (I actually take 2 Mary’s Brown Rice crackers and make a sandwich of them with the almond butter, honey and cinnamon in between), I would usually make 3 or 4 and take them with me.
FTPilates: What’s your favorite guilty pleasure treat?
JH: Red wine and high quality dark organic fair trade chocolate. They go together perfectly too!
FTPilates: What’s the one item you would tell a new client to never have in their kitchen or to throw away immediately?
JH: Diet pop.
FTPilates: What’s your definition of eating clean?
JH: Eat simple whole foods with as little processing as possible. Avoiding food with more than 3-4 ingredients and when you grocery shop, try to buy 80% foods that don’t come in a package!
Like I said, she knows her stuff! I made Joy’s healthy fish and chips recipe last night, and it was the perfect Sunday meal. Yum! If you want to learn more follow Joy on twitter, or like her on facebook right now!!!! And if you’re in the Toronto area, sign up now for one of Joy’s 5 new and exciting workshops coming up:
