So I’m here relaxing my tired muscles on a Friday night after enduring a grueling end of week Spin Class, yes, I’m a fitness nerd I know. And I came across a recipe for yam, ginger, pear juice. I also happen to be a juicer geek, so I started doing some research on the old internet and came across this:
1. Yams are hands down one of the most nutrient filled vegetables?
History has shown that people can live exclusively on sweet potatoes and remain healthy and strong.
Yams are jam packed with calcium, vitamin C, potassium, fibre and Vitamin A/Beta Carotene.
2. Did you know yams can help your complexion?
Sweet potatoes, or Yams, have a significant number of nutrients that assist in the elimination process that occurs naturally in the body. High water concentration, fiber, and Vitamin A/Beta Carotene all help flush and detox the system including the skin.
3. Did you know you can juice yams?!
Yams contain over 77.28g of water making them ideal for juicing, adding an interesting texture and flavor to your veggie juices. Much like beets they add a rich thickness to any juice, and are also suitable for juice fasts because of their detoxifying properties.
I always knew sweet potatoes were good for you, but I had no idea that they were nature’s nutrient poswerhouse! There’s lots more info oh how to sweeten the deal with yams here and here, if you’re interested…
