One of the most challenging parts of squeezing in a workout during your busy day, is the dreaded ponytail bump. You know, where your elastic held your hair in place while you sweat your butt off at the gym or on the mat. The worst. Here are a few of my favorite secrets to leave your hair looking this morning’s workout was no sweat!
1. Dry shampoo is a must in every gym bag, especially if you have bangs or finicky layers. Dry shampoo helps to take away excess oil and helps to smooth hair. Here are a few of my favorites…
Tip #1-Dry Shampoo
TRESemme foaming dry shampoo removes oil from your hair, and really makes it look shiny and healthy. It also smells fantastic! The only thing with this product is I find I still have to blow dry my hair after use, but it’s a heck of a lot faster than a full wash and blow dry.
Batiste dry shampoo spray. This dry shampoo is great for spot treatment, on bangs, or at the roots of your hair. It instantly takes away grease without having to blow dry. I use it if I’ve washed my hair that day already, and just need a little boost. I have to warn your though, I have red hair and it does leave a little white tinge to my tresses. I have friends with darker colored hair who say the white hue is a lot more apparent in their hair.
Good old fashioned Baby Powder still works great to perk up your hair after a workout. It soaks up excess oil, and grease and adds a touch of volume. It just depends on if you want to smell like a babies bum all day long, totally personal preference.
Tip #2-Bun Head
Wear a soft headband or clip up your hair instead of tying it in a ponytail. I’m a huge fan of the top knot, or bun. It leaves your tresses wavy and soft, without the ugly lump from your ponytail.
…and if your workout runs a little long, the top knot is still in fashion this season!
