If you’ve been follow Fine Tune on Instagram lately, you may have noticed that I’m obsessed with braids! Braids of all shapes and sizes have taken the internet by storm this year, but I find them to be fashionable, and functional for my Pilates workouts. In Pilates many exercises are done in the supine position, in other words, lying on your back. It’s hard to find a comfortable spot for a ponytail when you’re lying down, and leaving your hair down is not really an option either. Here’s where a tidy braided hairstyle comes in handy.
I hadn’t braided my hair since a I was a little girl, so I watched a few basic YouTube tutorials and then started to experiment on my own hair. This braid tutorial for beginners will give you all the tools you need to start creating your own styles. My best advice, don’t look in the mirror while you practice braiding, get a feel for it and then you can get picky about the placement. There will always be a spot on the back of your head you won’t be able to see anyway, so it’s best to know how to braid without having to look!
