Summertime everyone emerges from hibernation to socialize outdoors. People I haven’t seen all winter are now popping up at barbeques, bars, and park hangouts all over the city. No doubt that it’s easier to keep in touch with your community this time of year, and let me tell you, I’m feeling the love. The best way to reach your goals, especially in fitness, is to find your people. A community of health nuts just like you that will be supportive, and likely as motivated as you are to succeed. I am so thankful that this year I have met so many creative, talented, enthusiastic, and down-to-earth fit peeps. Get out there are get involved this summer! Here are a few good excuses to get outdoors and sweat it out with your community…
I’ve had such a great time getting to know the folks at Lululemon Cumberland street, doing Pilates demos, and taking advantage of the free classes that go on at the store every week (if you don’t know, now you know). This weekend I taught a little class outside in the sunshine, and it was so great to have old and new friends sweat it out on the mat together. You can bet I’ll be back doing another demo soon, stay tuned! Not to mention, my gal pal Christie from Beauty And The Bod will be running a free Bod Squad bootcamp every Wednesday night throughout the summer, click here for more details.
Misfit studio is now offering $45 for a full month of unlimited mat classes! Get your fill of Fusion, yoga, Pilates, and Ballet Barre workouts, and meet some great people along the way. On those warm summer nights they open the garage doors at the back end of the studio to let the most blissful breeze pass through, it makes for an unforgettable practice.
889 Yoga and the Thompson Hotel is doing their Yoga Unplugged series again. It’s complimentary yoga in the sun on the beautiful rooftop patio of the Thompson Hotel, with fun music, and amazing teachers from all over the city, what more could you ask for?! Just show up with your mat and an open heart and you’re all set! The party begins on Saturday, June 22 at 4:00pm, when Misfit’s very own Amber Joliat will lead you through a practice inspired by new school divas. Sounds like my idea of a good time, you’ll definitely see me on the mat there this summer.
Don’t forget to post any community events that are going on whether you’re holding them, or just looking for some people to go with you to an event. Let’s use our online community too people! Post away in the comments below or on my Facebook page, and LOVE your community this summer.
